Notes:
- While I am aware of the fact that during the translation I am moving from present tense to past tense when, in order for the text to be grammatically correct, I should be phrasing in past tense, I decided to stick to the Japanese ambiguity.
- Kawaita suna ni sugata wo kaeta / I changed my form to dust - Literally "I changed my shape into dry sand", most likely meaning he lost solid shape, maybe even to the point that he made sure he could not cry. The next line though, raises questions as the 'rain' could also mean tears. I'll leave the interpretation up to the reader/listener.
