Pulse Factory - 希望灯 (Kiboutou)

A new Rock/Pop band that I recently fell in love with. Going to translate the lyrics as I get my hands on the albums because there seem to be no official lyrics on the web as of yet...
I asked one of the band members permission to translate and post these lyrics and received permission for now.

Official site here
Band consists of: Nobu (vocal), Masaki (guitar), Yussan (guitar), Katsutoshi (Bass) and G2 (Drum).

Song: Kiboutou (希望灯)
Music: Yussan
Lyrics: Nobu

Album: The HOPE

No matter how small and dim the light is, as long as you're alive there is hope.

Torch of Hope

Words like hope and dreams
Can you say them with pride?
The darkside of the words "becoming an upright person"
Is that you don't have the freedom to live dreaming

"Right now, as I am filled with the status quo, can I change?"
Say You don't want it to end like this, right?

That life that belongs to no one
You have to give it meaning with your own feelings
The anguish that feels as if it will tear you apart
When it is there for you, it'll probably become precious

Both in days where you came to a stand still alone
And days of rain where you cried, about to fall apart
Unable to imagine the strong self
Living beyond the door to the future

Next to the frustration held is the desire to not stop breathing
As if talking to me, saying to live overcoming pain too

Being held back by useless common sense
Losing your heart is a very sad thing you know
With these connected feelings and music
I'll continue to sing, even when told there is no meaning to it

To the weakened you (me) of times passed I'm standing strong now
Now I can say that change is possible!

This life that belongs to no one
I give it meaning with my own feelings

Even in the light that seems to fade someday
I won't stop desiring things until this life burns out
I have begun going down this path
I'll continue to sing holding on to the thoughts of that time

(because) That's MY life

Notes
  • For the title (Kiboutou) both "Torch of Hope" or "Light of Hope" would work. I think 'torch' is more poetic.
  1. Genjou ni mitasarete boku wa / As I am filled with the status quo - Very literal translation. It is meant in the sense that he is focused on the current situation he is in and it is taking him up completely. There seems to be a nuance of him being fine with things as they are, though it is also possible it is simply eating him up.
  2. Kimi no tame ni soko ni ita to itoshiku naru deshou / When it is there for you, it'll probably become precious - I'll be honest, I asked friends, and they were a little lost about the intended meaning. I assume that it has the nuance that everything you've experienced is a step closer to your ultimate goal, including the bad things.
